Junky- William S Burroughs 1977 Penguin Edition

£12.00

A Fantastic early edition by Penguin Publishing of ‘Junky’ by one of the primary figures of the Beat Generation William S. Burroughs.

A gritty and unvarnished look into the world of drug addiction in the mid-20th century, following William Lee who becomes addicted to drugs, primarily heroin, in his early adulthood and is soon caught in a downward spiral of addiction. Presented as a novel, but it is arguably an autobiographical memoir. The character of ‘Lee’ has been interpreted as both a direct representation of Burroughs and a fictionalized caricature of him, Burroughs himself began writing Junky while he was still regularly using heroin.

“You become a narcotics addict because you do not have strong motivations in any other direction. Junk wins by default.”

Condition- Good- Some discolouring and slight Water-markings.

Includes original Penguin sticker on reverse.
